The Ghost Bus Tours-London
To round off our day trip to London on the 20th of June, we went and took a trip on The Ghost Bus Tour.
This was a must on our list of experiences from the second we set eyes on the advert about a week beforehand. We love spooky things and being able to go on a tour that explores the very worst of the city's history while having the chance to learn about the spirits left behind is 100% our idea of fun.
Naturally, didn't actually get any photos of this one aside from the one of the bus as might have scared away the spirits, one of which was our conductor, but the experience is 100% one we'd recommend.
You start out boarding the bus at the allotted time. Ours was half 7, just as the evening was coming in full force as he tours recommend evening bookings to really bring the spook to life as you tour London in the dark, naturally doesn't go to plan in the summer months but hey ho.
The creepy conductor greets you as you step onto the black double decker that both myself and Jamie agreed gave us Night Bus vibes from Harry Potter. The bus is decked out with vintage red plush seats and there are creepy lamps adorning the ceiling.
Once settled in your seats on the upper deck (we took the front seats), you drive off and the conductor begins to talk to you about the spooky places London houses.
During the tour, we were informed of several places that involved brutal murders or capital punishments and the ghosts that that now haunt there. Included were stories regarding the bus itself as well as other little tales, not to mention ghostly happenings during the tour itself!
Hats off to the conductor who knew exactly how to have a laugh especially as we got caught in London traffic. Stops were made, as were jokes, not to mention plenty of scares.
Jamie found that the conductor kept trying to target him as he would not give him a reaction whereas I was jumping left right and Chelsea. The conductor would sneak up behind us and shout while we peered through the red draped curtains at the less-smoggy-than-it-used-to-be London outside and I would jump from my skin as Jamie smiled politely. Takes a lot to scare that man, but that isn't to say he didn't enjoy the tour!
Once the tour came to an end we were knackered yet buzzing. I was spooked but in an excitable way and Jamie was grinning as we made our way back to the train station to go home. The experience itself is 100% one we would recommend as it is just a fun 90 minutes or so seeing the sights but with a ghoulish twist. For tourists this has got to be a must over the standard tour bus as you get to see the same sights only with a ghost related buzz, I maybe wouldn't say bring kids but people did, it isn't that scary but perhaps in the dark it gets scarier. The website also says if traffic permits a walk around a graveyard takes place but we didn't get to do this.
Would we go back? Absolutely, Jamie and I are in complete agreement with this one. Despite having experienced it and we would be expecting the jump scares, it was still a really interesting ride as we got to learn some of London's history and let's face it, the experience is harmless really and a fun, kind of relaxing, hour or so. It was a great end of the day event and set us up on a high to go home as we were sleepy. When we go to Edinburgh next year we will absolutely be on the Scottish black bus to see what hauntings they have to offer!
