Batman Unmasked

A few hours after our mosey around the F1 Exhibition, we travelled a leg of London to answer the call of the Bat Signal. That's right people, it's Batman time
We both love Batman, it's Gothic, it's camp, it's violent, what is there not to like? So going to see a bunch of props and costumes from the movies themselves was an opportunity we couldn't miss.
We were late due to an incident in Leicester Square which held up the tube, but the kind people running the place let us jump on the next tour without an issue. I'm glad they did as there was no chance we wanted to miss this.
First things first, we got taken to a recreation of a room in Wayne Manor. This wasn't just any room, this was the gateway room to the Batcave and only one man was allowed to twist the secret key, touched by Michael Keaton himself, in order to reveal the Batcave and the treasures within. This man (or woman) had to do their best impression of Batman in order to win the honour, this reward went to none other than Jamie who gleefully bade us entry.
Through the doors we went into the depths of the Batcave where we found tech and vehicles galore. A quick swivel and we came face to face with our first costume (Keaton of course) and nearby Bale's version. Just on from that we came to several display cases with each cowl from the movies. Every Batman got their mask displayed, even the unexpected ones!
Next up we bumped into Pattinson's costume and then ricochetted through laser beams laid on by The Riddler (if only Sonic 3 had come out last October, we would have done the Galvanize dance), only to come face to face with the ultimate villain shrine.
We had Phoenix's red suit from Joker, Farrell's Penguin costume, Hardy's Bane mask, Carrey's Riddler, Thurman's Ivy costume, and Schwarzenegger's Mr Freeze's outfit. In the centre laid dozens of movie props, mainly weapons, but the odd little gem also was on show.
Nearby, we came across some more villainous outfits such as Robbie's infamous Harley look, Ledger's Nurse, Kravitz's mask, Neeson's Ducard mask, and Lexger's clown mask. This was the last of the costumes before the penultimate event, the Batmobile.
Our visit was 100% interactive. We got to play with Alfred's red telephone from the movies, get up and personal with some other props, as well as being thrown into trippy rooms crafted by Nigma and The Joker himself.
But finally, finally, we walked through to the main event, the car. The Batmobile changes with every location, London got Pattinson's car and while still visually stunning it was underwhelming. We wanted Keaton's vehicle.
Our favourite bit of this experience was the photo ops. We got to pose and be our greatest dynamic duos. There was also a section where you got to read comics (provided) and catch up on Batman lore via the actors themselves in a little video.
The giftshop, much like F1, was a let down. They didn't even offer print photos for this experience, only digital. Otherwise they sold tat for sky high prices. I just wanted a magnet or a pin man, instead it was 2 mugs just to have something to show for our brilliant end to our October London trip.
Out of all the exhibitions we have seen so far, we agreed that Batman was our favourite and we encourage any fan to give it a go, you won't be disappointed! Lauren's only bugbare was that there was no costumes or props from Gotham or Pennyworth. If The Penguin, a spin off, can be recognised, so can they.
