Boscastle

It seemed silly after going all the way to Boscastle to visit Joan Wytte, not to visit the village while we were there. After all, it was our lazy day and we were just taking things as we fancied. So we drove 5 minutes down to the harbour and we were so glad we did. This was the epitome of picturesque fishing village. It was like something off a postcard!

The first thing we did is walked the little stream up to the main village. We stopped, bought some souvenirs for the family, and then wandered up the road to the lovely little bakery where the baker was absolutely rushed off her feet. Here we bought the nicest, freshest, tiger loaf we have ever eaten and two Cornish pasties, one was Traditional (Steak & Potato) and one was Steak & Stilton which was a gamble as we dont like Stilton. The idea behind this was to try something new and have one to compare to our first in Tintagel which was amazing. We were going to have them with our Cornish cheese and strawberries but they smelt so good we sat across from the sea and devoured them. The Steak & Stilton one was our favourite, it was creamy and meaty and just genuinely yum. This clever and lovely baker lady had outdone herself, her Traditional pasty was even more delicious than our first in Tintagel! We had been spoilt and continued to walk among Boscastle with happy bellies, taking lovely photos all the while.

This is a short post as there was nothing we had come here specifically for. While there was an abundance of history, we didn't explore or learn anything, our intention was simply to drink in the sight.

We did however, take a little trip along to The Museum of Witchcraft & Magic. Yes, the very same place where Joan Wytte was on display for many a year before they decided her suffering should come to an end. Dogs were not allowed here so we didn't go in, but Lauren took advantage of the wishing well outside to make a wish. The Museum is tucked away just at the very end of the harbour and is certainly a building that stands out from the chocolate box surroundings.

We loved this village and would love to come back to explore further, have some more pasties, and try The Cobweb Inn which piqued our interest!
