St Hedda's Church, Egton

The other church Pete mentioned was St Hedda's which is also in Egton and has been since 1867.

A Catholic chapel was by Egton Bridge as long ago as 1743 and was replaced but a church in 1790. This one was then converted to the primary school and the current church was built which was larger (1867).

St Hedda's boasts a Welsh slate roof with terracotta ridged tiles and stone construction. The font dates back to 1790 so was likely brought over from the old church before it became a school. Other than that, there isn't much information to share on this one as the current church hasn't had much alteration since it was placed.

We wanted to share it though due to how lovely it looks and also the fact it is next to Egton Bridge which is still showing signs of older things there as you can see from the photo below. This seemed like a very interesting area, but we were on a schedule and so we'll come back to that again some day!
