The Last Fresh Water Spring in Guisborough

 

This was an absolute hidden gem that we couldn't not mention and ultimately was the reason we decided to post on every bit of history no matter how small. The fact there is a memorial plaque for the last fresh water spring in the area says it all, this was a community who lived off the land and saw history and a way of living worth grieving.

This site is a special one, there aren't a lot of places which place nods to their past like this. Even though the spring no longer runs and the gated drop is full of litter, we really loved the throwback.

We know absolutely nothing about this though, and to be fair with a fresh spring it is hard to know the origins and all we know thanks to the plaque is its final use was in the 1970s. So if anyone knows any of the history of this spring then this is our appeal for information!

We refuse for it to be lost to history so here we are!
